New Mothers Prayer for July 22nd

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in Jeremiah, You say to Your people, I am married to You. That is a stronger word than I usually let myself hear. You are not annoyed with me. You have not gone quiet because my prayers are short and my singing is hummed. You are bound to me in a covenant You do not break. Even on the nights when nothing in me feels held, the bond holds. Let that older promise steady me through the next feeding. I am married to You. I have not been left, even when the night feels so long. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
