New Mothers Prayer for July 11th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, my back aches from the way I slept around the baby last night. Peter wrote that after we suffer a little while, You will restore us, make us strong, and set us on solid ground. I hold on to that promise this morning, even when I do not feel settled. You are at work in me, whether I feel it or not. This day will not be perfect, and the long stretch of broken sleep does not mean You have left. You are doing Your slow, good work in this hard season of my life. Steady me through one more hour. I do not have to be the woman I will be in five years today. You are asking me to be faithful in the diapers, the dishes, and the soft humming over the crib. There is even joy tucked inside the tired. Strengthen me without my noticing. That is a kindness I can receive. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
