New Mothers Prayer for July 9th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, the baby's monitor is dim on the counter, and the kitchen is finally quiet. You told us in Psalm 103 to not forget all You have done for us — and I forgot most of it today. The baby slept four hours in one stretch, and I almost missed that gift because of coffee. A neighbor brought down the laundry basket, and I almost missed that too, with a quick thanks and a closed door. Let me sit with this day before I sleep and notice three things. The food. The warm water. The small breathing body in the next room. Each of those was carried to me by Your hand. I just move too fast to see them for what they are. Slow me down one more minute before bed. Amen.
