New Mothers Prayer for July 3rd
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I am afraid that the hard hours will swallow the good ones. I worry that one bad night undoes a good week. I worry that one short temper undoes a tender afternoon. Teach me that You do not keep score that way. The good You put into this house yesterday is not erased by the difficulty of this morning. Help me not to brace against the next hard hour. Let me do the next faithful thing — pick up the baby, answer kindly, drink the water — without dread. The hard hours will not eat the good ones. You are tending both. Amen.
