New Mothers Prayer for July 2nd
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I am tired. I do not feel like rejoicing in anything except a longer stretch of sleep. Psalm 33 says my heart shall rejoice in You, and I want to take that as a promise and not as pressure. I do not have to feel joyful right now to be faithful. Joy can come later, after the second feeding, after the day finds its shape. Hold the joy for me where I cannot reach it. Keep me from confusing exhaustion with despair, and from confusing a hard morning with a lost life. The baby is breathing. You are real. That is enough to begin with.Amen.
