New Mothers Prayer for June 28th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Hebrews 12:2 says to look to Jesus. Two small words that hold my whole life.

I have looked at so many things today. The dishes. The phone. My reflection. The clock. My baby's small face. The unanswered email. None of these is wrong to see. But none of them is where my eyes should rest.

When I look to Jesus, I find what I cannot find anywhere else. His kindness. His plan. His patience. His peace.

I do not have to look up in some big way. Just a small turn of the head, in the middle of the dishes, toward Him. A glance. A whisper. A quiet turning back.

Let my whole day be filled with these small lookings. When I turn to You, everything else finds its place.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
