A prayer to pray now
Father, in Exodus 8, Pharaoh told Moses the people could go worship, but not go very far. He wanted them to obey only a little. He wanted compromise.
I have done the same thing with You. Yes, I will follow, but not too far. Yes, I will pray, but not too long. Yes, I will let go of this, but I will hold on to that.
Pharaoh's offer is not Your way. You do not want part of me. You want all of me.
I am not promising I will do big, brave things every day. I am just done pretending that half-obedience is enough. I am done making deals with You in my head.
When I get up to pray, even though I am so tired, that small step is real. When I choose to trust You with this new life in my arms, even when I am scared, that counts. The small steps are full. My whole heart is in them, even on the hard nights.
There is joy here, too, tucked in with the exhaustion. Help me not to miss it. Help me not to hold back.
Take me at my word. Receive me as someone going with You all the way, even if my pace is slow.
Amen.
