New Mothers Prayer for June 22nd

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father,

Zechariah 6 says of the Messiah, "He will build the temple of the Lord, and He will bear the glory." He does the building. He gets the glory.

I am not the builder of my own life right now. I have been trying. Reading books, making plans, forcing myself to feel better. None of it lasts.

He is the builder. He bears the glory. The work is His. The credit is His. The weight of holding it all together is His.

That is a relief. It means I do not have to be impressive. I just have to let Him build in my tired heart and my messy days.

Some nights are long. Some moments are sweet. Hold both for me.

Build Your temple in me. Bear the glory Yourself. I just want to be a small living stone in Your wall.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. He will build Yahweh’s temple. He will bear the glory, and will sit and rule on his throne. He will be a priest on his throne. The counsel of peace will be between them both.
    Zechariah 6:13
  2. You also as living stones are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
    1 Peter 2:5
