New Mothers Prayer for June 19th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Acts 2 says the disciples were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Filled. Not just a little. Filled.
I am not filled this morning. I am running on coffee and fumes. I have asked for help in small ways and felt small returns. So now I ask You: fill the whole of me.
Your Spirit is the gift of the risen Christ to His tired Church. He is not for special saints. He is for the ordinary woman in the kitchen, standing over a sink full of bottles, needing more than her own strength to make it to dinner.
Fill me, Lord. Not with a feeling. With Your presence. Spread through my mind, my body, my hands, the way water spreads through dry ground.
Even in this tired place, I see Your goodness. A tiny hand wrapped around my finger. A small smile in the morning light. Joy and weariness, both from You.
I open my heart to You. Fill what is empty. I trust You to do it.
Amen.
