New Mothers Prayer for June 15th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You know I have not laughed much this season. Not the deep kind. The kind that comes from the belly and surprises me. I have smiled. I have smirked. But the real laugh has been gone.

You gave that kind of laugh to Sarah. She waited so long. She cried. She doubted. And then You surprised her with joy. She could not help but laugh.

I need that surprise again.

Today, let me notice the small absurdities in my life. The baby's serious face during a diaper change. The way someone I love says certain words wrong. The kitchen that was clean an hour ago, and already looks like a storm went through it.

Loosen me into laughter again. It is a small mercy, and I want it back.

Amen.
