New Mothers Prayer for June 5th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Genesis 7 says, "The Lord shut him in." Noah did not close the door of the ark. You did.

I think about that a lot right now. The door of this house has been shut for months. I am in a small space with this baby. There are quiet nights, long feeds, and the sound of a breath on my chest while the rest of the world keeps going.

You shut the door. This is not me being left out. This is me being kept safe through a season.

The ark was not a punishment. It was a place You made to carry them through.

Let me stop fighting the closed door. The hard things outside are real. The shelter inside is real. You closed me in for this season. I will rest in being kept instead of grieving being out.

Amen.
