New Mothers Prayer for June 4th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says You showed kindness and love toward me. That kindness is what keeps Your love from being scolding. It is how You come toward me, not with a frown but with open arms.

I have been quietly afraid that You are kind to other people but stern with me. That I am the project, not the beloved. That You are just tolerating me until I get my act together.

But Your Word says kindness. Plainly. Toward me.

Train me to expect kindness when I come to You. Not lectures. Not lists. Kindness. The kindness of a parent who has not stopped being glad I am here.

Let me move through today knowing I have been received kindly, and offer that same kindness to the people in my house.

Amen.
