New Mothers Prayer for June 2nd

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says my old self fights against Your Spirit, and Your Spirit fights against my old self. There is a real fight inside me. It is not just tiredness. It is not just hormones. There is a war.

I felt it this morning. The pull toward self-pity. The pull toward kindness. The pull toward shutting down. The pull toward staying open with my partner.

Your Spirit is the one inviting me toward the right side of the fight. My old self wants the small give-ups that feel like relief.

Tip me toward Your Spirit today even when the easy way feels more comfortable. The easy way does not last. Your way is longer and truer.

I want Your way. Pull me there.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
