New mothers
New Mothers Prayer for June 1st
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Genesis 1 says, "The evening and the morning were the first day." In Your calendar, the day starts with evening. Rest comes before work.
That is the opposite of how I have been living. Pushing through the day until I am empty. Then falling into bed at night. Work first. Rest only if there is any left.
Let me start tomorrow Your way. Help me trust that the night is part of the day, not just what is left of it. You are still making something while I sleep. You do not pause when my eyes close.
Even if the baby wakes me three times tonight, the rest I can get is part of Your plan. Tomorrow flows from it.
I lay down tonight as a starting point, not as a defeat.
Amen.
