New Mothers Prayer for May 29th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says You hate wickedness. You are not soft about what is truly evil.

I am not asking You to hate every small mistake I made this week. I am asking You to hate the patterns that hurt me and the people in my house. The slow self-pity. The quiet envy of people whose lives look easier. The small habits that pull me away from my baby and my partner.

Hate those things in me the way You hate them. Burn them off.

I am not asking to be condemned. I am asking to be cleaned. You have already taken the judgment I deserved. Now by Your Spirit, pull me free from these patterns themselves.

I am tired and I am grateful. Both are true at the same time. Help me hold both.

Do this work in me. I will not fight You. I will work with You, even when I am weak.

Amen.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. To them it was revealed that they served not themselves, but you, in these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached the Good News to you by the Holy Spirit sent out from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.
