New Mothers Prayer for May 16th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You give us all things richly to enjoy. Richly. To enjoy. You do not hold back good gifts from me. You are not impatient when I slow down and sit in them.
I have been forgetting to enjoy. The light through the window. The baby's first real laugh yesterday. The taste of the iced coffee I made for myself. The way my partner reached for my hand this morning, even though we were both half-asleep.
These are gifts. Yours, given richly. To enjoy is not to let go of what matters. It is a small act of trust.
Today, let me enjoy. Not consume. Receive. Notice. Thank. Move through the day with the eyes of someone receiving small gifts and noticing them.
Amen.
