New Mothers Prayer for May 6th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says that God is love, and whoever lives in love lives in You and You in them. That is 1 John 4:16. We live in You the way a fish lives in water.
I have been forgetting that this season. I have treated You like a place I visit. Sometimes for a long time. Sometimes for a short time. Then I leave and live somewhere else.
But I dwell in You. I do not leave. The dishes get done in You. The feeding happens in You. The walk around the block happens in You. Even the crying happens in You. Even the fear that I am not enough happens in You.
And so does the joy. The small, quiet joy of holding her. The way she looks at me like I am her whole world. That joy is in You too.
Let me live like this is true today. Not as a trick to feel better. As a fact. I am in You. I do not need to go anywhere to find You.
Amen.
