New Mothers Prayer for May 4th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word asks if we make gods for ourselves that are not really gods. That hits close to home.
I have made some small gods this season. A good night of sleep is one. I treat it like it will save the next day, like it will fix me. My phone is another, a constant friend that never really satisfies.
These are not gods. They cannot save me. They give me a few hours of relief, but they do not hold my soul.
You alone are God. Forgive me for the small idols. I do not have to make a big show of putting them down. I just have to keep coming back to You as the One who is actually God.
Be my real refuge tonight, not the things I have made into substitutes.
Amen.
