A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says, 'Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.' You are calling me out of the indoor stillness into something fresh.
I have been indoors a lot. I am tempted by the indoors. The familiar chair. The quiet routine. The four walls I have memorized.
You are not always calling me to dramatic places. Sometimes the call is just outside the door. Around the block with the stroller. The sunlight on my face for ten minutes.
Move me from this chair when I have been in it too long. Open my lungs. Let the spring air do what it does. Even ten minutes is a yes.
Then I will come back to the kitchen lighter than I left it.
Amen.
