The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your people once made a promise to You because You had been so faithful. I want to respond like that, too.
I am too tired to make a big promise this morning. But I can make a small one. To pray once today, even briefly. To not snap at my partner before work. To put my phone down during the first feeding.
These are small promises. But they are real. They are my answer to Your faithfulness, not the reason for it.
Help me not to look down on the small promise just because it is small. It points me back to You. That is enough for today.
Keep me to it. Be patient when I forget. Receive my one ordinary yes.
Amen.
