New Mothers Prayer for April 20th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You sent Jesus through death and broke its power. The fear of death has been broken in Him.
I do not think about death often. But becoming a mother put it closer. The first fever sent a small shiver through me. The thought of her future, of her growing up in a world that has hurt me in places, makes me hold my breath.
You have not promised me a world without death. You have promised that death is no longer the final word. Jesus went through it and came back.
Steady my fears for her. Steady my fears for my partner driving home tonight. Steady my fear of my own aging. Christ has dealt with the worst. The rest is held.
Amen.
