New Mothers Prayer for April 18th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in Joshua 2, You told Rahab to tie a scarlet cord in her window. She obeyed, even though it was a small thing.

That is what faith looks like in this house right now. Not big gestures. Just small obedience. A scarlet thread in the middle of ordinary life.

Saying grace before a microwaved meal. Reading one verse before bed, even knowing I will be up again in two hours to feed her. Apologizing to my partner, even when I am not sure who was more wrong.

I am tired, Lord. Bone tired. But these small acts still matter to You. They mark this home as Yours.

Help me tie one more scarlet thread today. Not perfectly. Just faithfully.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. Behold, when we come into the land, tie this line of scarlet thread in the window which you used to let us down. Gather to yourself into the house your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household.
