New Mothers Prayer for April 15th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father,

Jesus cried out on the cross, "My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?" He entered the deepest loneliness, so I would never have to.

I have had small moments that felt like being left behind. Not by You. By hard circumstances. By friends who got busy. By a body that does not feel like mine.

You have not forsaken me. Even in the quiet, even in the tired hours, You are near. You do not send pain to teach me. You meet me inside it.

He was forsaken, so I would not be. The hardest nights of this season are not the same as His. I am held, even when I cannot feel it.

I receive that truth now, with tears, with gratitude, with a heart too full for words.

Amen.

How to pray it

  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
