New Mothers Prayer for April 9th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in Luke 23, women walked the road to the cross. They cried out and mourned for Him. They could do nothing else. They could not stop what was happening. They could weep. They could walk. They could be there.

Sometimes that is all I can do for the people I love. My friend going through a hard divorce. My mother getting older. The neighbor I know is lonely. I cannot fix any of it. I can pray. I can listen. I can weep with them.

Do not let me think small acts of being there do not matter. The women on that road were not failing. They were present.

Let me be present today. To my baby. To my partner when he gets home. To one person I have been meaning to check on. Showing up is not nothing. It is love.

Amen.
