New Mothers Prayer for April 8th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, in Luke 23, Jesus asked what happens to the dry tree when even the green tree suffers. He was the green tree, the innocent one, taking what He did not deserve. I am the dry one, and still He carried me.
I have been quietly bitter about how hard motherhood is. Not in a dramatic way. Just a small voice that says this should not cost this much of me.
But today I also see the good tucked inside the hard. A small hand around my finger. A quiet breath against my neck. Joy and exhaustion in the same hour.
Soften the bitterness in me. Help me receive this small cost as part of living in a broken world. Christ paid the higher cost, so my smaller cost has meaning.
Carry me through the dry afternoon.
Amen.
