New Mothers Prayer for April 2nd
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, in Matthew 27, when Pilate questioned Jesus, He did not say a word back. He did not defend Himself.
I have been spending energy defending myself in small ways. Explaining the messy house when no one asked. Justifying my decisions about the baby to people who were not criticizing me. Rehearsing answers in my head for arguments that have not happened.
Quiet that in me today. I do not have to defend myself to anyone, not even the voice in my head. You already know who I am in Christ. The kitchen does not need to be explained.
When the small impulse comes to over-explain, let me be quiet like He was quiet. I trust You with the impression I am leaving.
Amen.
