New Mothers Prayer for March 26th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in John 18, Jesus told the soldiers to let His friends go. He stepped in front of harm so they would not have to face it.

He does that for me too. Whatever I deserved, He stepped in front of me and took it. What should have hit me went around me because He was there.

This is a lot to take in on a tired morning. But it changes how I move through this day.

If I have been forgiven that completely, I can forgive my partner for the small thing this morning. If I have been spared that much, I can spare my mother the sharp words she would expect from me later.

This season is hard. It is also a gift. Let mercy flow through me because mercy has flowed to me. Christ stood between me and what was coming. I stand differently because of that.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
