New Mothers Prayer for March 11th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I have been softening my sin.

The sharp word with my partner—I called it just being tired. The half-truth to my mother—I called it just protecting myself. The slow envy of the friend whose baby sleeps—I called it just being human.

These are not as small as I have been telling myself. They are not huge, either. But they are real.

Help me name them honestly. Not making them bigger than they are.Not making them smaller, either.

Forgive me, plainly. And help me do better tomorrow.Let me walk back to the kitchenwithout the weight of an unnamed thing.

I am not a worse mother for confessing.I am a freer one.

Amen.
