New Mothers Prayer for March 6th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Jesus said that we must be born again. This baby was born once. I was born once into this body that is so tired this morning, and once into Christ.

I sometimes forget that second birth. I run my whole day on the energy of the first one. That energy runs out by mid-afternoon, and I am surprised every time.

But the second birth has a different kind of strength. Your Spirit is alive in me. Your mercy. A weight of glory that holds up under ordinary hours.

Let me draw from that today. Not just from caffeine. Not just from how well I slept. From the new life You put in me when You called me.

Wake that second life inside the first. Let my mothering today come from there.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she doesn’t remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world.
    John 16:21
