New Mothers Prayer for March 5th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word tells us to stay awake in our souls. Tonight I am also asking for sleep. Plain sleep. And I will not be ashamed of needing it.
Help me hold both. I do not want to lose the small attention. The quiet prayer. The willingness to notice You moving in the dark room while I hold my baby.
There is a sleep my body needs too. The real rest. The closed eyes between feedings. The weight of this little one in my arms.
Do not let me mix them up. I can be soul-awake and body-tired. I can be running on fumes and still belong to You. You are gentle with the weak. You are kind to the tired.
Wake my soul. Rest my body. Both, please.
Amen.
