New Mothers Prayer for March 1st
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says to the north wind, 'Awake,' and to the south wind, 'Come and blow upon my garden.' The garden does not stir on its own. It needs wind moving through it.
I am the garden today, and I cannot make myself bloom. I cannot make myself want to pray or read or care. I have been sitting in a heavy, still fog for days.
You are the wind, north or south. Move where I cannot. Stir whatever is dormant. Bring me back to the things I used to love, in Your own time.
I will not pretend a wind I do not feel. I will simply wait, with the windows open, until You blow through this kitchen.
Amen.
