New Mothers Prayer for February 26th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Jonah prayed from inside a fish, in the dark, where he could do nothing for himself. He said, "Salvation is of the Lord." That means You are the one who saves, not me.
I have been quietly trying to save myself this week from the long hours, from my own restlessness, from the fear about my baby's small cough that probably is nothing.
I cannot do it. The fish stays a fish.
You are my salvation. From this slump, from this loneliness, from this fear I can feel but cannot fix.
I am not going to pretend I am holding myself together. I let go. I trust You to bring me through this dark place in Your time. Help me wait on You with hope, not with giving up.
Even in this tired place, I see Your goodness. Thank You for this child in my arms, for the quiet moments, for the way You stay close when I have nothing left.
Bring me out as You see fit, and until then, sit with me inside it.
Amen.
