New Mothers Prayer for January 31st

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Jeremiah 23 names You "The Lord Our Righteousness." Mine is in You, not in me. That is the only truth I can rest in tonight.

I have spent too many hours this month measuring myself as a mother. The mistakes I made. The patience I lost. The moments I was not the mom I wanted to be.

But my goodness was never going to be earned in this rocking chair. Christ already settled it before she was born, before I was born.

I also remember her hand closing around mine. A quiet smile at 3 a.m. A good moment I did not plan. Thank You for the joy I did not earn either.

Let me close this month not by counting my failures but by resting in His perfect record. He stood for me where I could not stand.

Tomorrow I will try again. Tonight I will sleep in Him.

Amen.
