New Mothers Prayer for January 27th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says that out of Christ's fullness we have all received. I see it as a cup poured into another cup. His fullness never ends. My cup is small, and by mid-afternoon it feels mostly empty.
Lord, fill me from the top, not by my own strength, but by Yours. I do not want to pour bitterness into my baby's life because I have nothing left in me.
I cannot fake fullness. I cannot fake patience. I cannot fake love when I am drained.
Pour into me what only You can pour. Quietly, steadily, so that when she reaches up tonight, she finds a mother whose cup has water in it, because You put it there.
Amen.
