New Mothers Prayer for January 13th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I had plans before this baby came. Plans for my body, my work, my friendships. Some of those plans are broken now, sitting still in the harbor of this small and holy year.

I am not asking You to fix all of them. Some were never the right ships for where You are taking me.

Give me grace not to treat this season like a loss. When a ship does not sail, it is not always failure. Sometimes it is mercy. You knew I needed to be home for this. Not out at sea. Here in the quiet. Here in the feeding chair. Here in the mess and the love.

Help me open my hands and let go of the trip I thought I was taking. Show me what You are doing in the harbor instead.

Amen.
