New Mothers Prayer for January 8th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I snapped at my partner this morning, and I am still chewing on it. I am tired enough to want to blame the night, blame the baby, blame anything but me. But it was mine. I said it. I felt it.
I bring You my best and my worst all mixed together. I do not have the words to sort them out. Forgive me, plainly. Do not let me carry this shame all day. Repair what I broke with the few words I have left to spend.
Thank You for this child I am holding. Thank You that love is still here under the tired. Let me also forgive the part of me that needed too much last night and could not name it. Make me kinder before I make me anything else.
Amen.
