New Mothers Prayer for January 5th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, the light is just coming through the window, and I have already been awake for hours. Genesis 1 says You separated the light from the darkness and called it good. The darkness I have been in tonight did not feel good.
I am not asking You to take away all the dark hours. I am asking You to show me where the night ends and the day begins, so I can see the difference.
Steady me into morning. Let the first light remind me that You have done this before. You have carried tired mothers through long nights, one slow breath at a time.
The baby is quiet now. I can hear those tiny breaths. I take this moment as Your gift. Help me receive it.
Amen.
