Kids Prayer for December 31st

A short, Scripture-shaped kids prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, You said that if anyone is thirsty, they can come to You and drink. That invitation does not expire. It is still good on the last day of the year, the first day of the new year, and every day after that. I am coming to You right now. Thank You for this year. The water You give does not run out on December 31. It keeps flowing into January 1 and beyond. Hold my hand as I step into this new year, the same way You held me through this one. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
