Kids Prayer for September 4th

A short, Scripture-shaped kids prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, in Matthew 14, You walked on the water and told Peter to come. Peter stepped out, and he started to sink, and You grabbed him. You do that with me, too. When I try something hard, and I feel like I am going under, You catch me. Thank You that sinking is not the end. Your hand reaches for me right when I need it most. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
