Kids
Kids Prayer for August 2nd
A short, Scripture-shaped kids prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, sometimes the bathwater in my mouth tastes weird, and I think of the place in Exodus where the water was bitter. You showed Moses a tree, and the water turned sweet. There are bitter things in my life, too. Hurt feelings. A bad grade. Being left out. You can make those things sweet. I cannot fix them myself. You can. Do not let the bitter parts of today stay bitter. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
Then he cried to Yahweh. Yahweh showed him a tree, and he threw it into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There he made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there he tested them.
