Kids Prayer for July 11th

A short, Scripture-shaped kids prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord, Your Word says that after we suffer awhile, You make us strong and steady and sure. That is a lot of big ideas. But the simple part is this: when something hurts, You are working. You are not surprised. You are not late. Hurting for a while is not forever, even when it feels like it. When I get sad about my grandma, or my pet, or my friend who moved, remind me that You are holding me up from underneath. The hurt is real. So is the work You are doing in it. I trust You with the long part. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
