Kids Prayer for July 7th

A short, Scripture-shaped kids prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I do not always know what to say when I pray. Even Paul, who wrote a lot of the Bible, asked other people to pray for him. That makes me feel okay about asking too. Will You teach me to pray for the people in my house, even the ones who annoy me? My mom. My brother. My grandma. Maybe the kid at school I do not like very much. Bring them all to mind today, one at a time. I will not try to be fancy with my words. I will just name them. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
