Kids Prayer for July 4th

A short, Scripture-shaped kids prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, today is a big-flag day. People are loud and happy and eating outside. Your Word says You set apart the people who hear Your truth. That means You make me Yours, not because I am loud or strong, but because You speak and I listen. Even on a night full of fireworks, what makes me Yours is that You call me Your own. Let me be a kid who belongs to You, not just to a country or a team or a crowd. Keep me close while everyone is celebrating. When the loud parts get a little scary, remind me that You are louder than any boom in the sky. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
