Kids Prayer for July 1st

A short, Scripture-shaped kids prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, the sidewalk is hot today, and my hair is sticking to my neck. Summer feels really long. You said You have living water that never runs out, not in summer and not in winter. You do not dry up when it is July. You do not freeze when it is January. You are the same God in every kind of weather. I want a drink of You today, the kind that goes deeper than a popsicle. When I am hot and grumpy, when I snap at people or do not want to play, remind me that You are still right here. I want to be a kid who runs to You when the day starts melting me. Thank You for staying steady when nothing else does. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
