Grandmother’s Prayer for December 30th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says the end of a thing can be better than the beginning. That goes against how most people think. We love new starts. But You see the whole story. The end has been through the middle. The end has learned what the beginning could only hope for.
Lord, that has been true in my life. My marriage grew sweeter over the years, even when the early days were full of energy. A long friendship grew deeper with time. My walk with You is richer now than it was when I was young and full of questions.
This is a good word at the end of this year. January felt shaky. Now I feel steadier. I know more now than I did at the start. Not every ending in this life feels easy. Some are full of loss. But You are faithful. You carry me through every middle and every close.
Walk me through this last day of the year with thankfulness. Help me trust that the end of this life, by Your grace, will be better than the beginning. You are faithful to finish what You start.
Amen.
