Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for December 22nd
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Isaiah 41:10 says You will strengthen me. That is the promise I need this morning.
The morning has been small but anxious. Next month I see the cardiologist. I do not know whether to renew my lease or move closer to my daughter. Last night, my grandson sent a text I did not know how to answer.
Lord, I do not need strength for something big. I need strength for these small worries. Help me walk into the doctor's office without fear. Help me decide on the apartment without dread. Help me write a kind reply to my grandson.
You said You will strengthen me. I believe You. Give me the strength I need for each one today.
Amen.

- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
