Grandmother’s Prayer for December 19th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You are the one who decides how the dice fall. Even the things that seem random are really in Your hand. That truth has steadied me through many years. The friend I met by chance who became dear to me. The phone call from the doctor that came at just the right time. The verse I read on Sunday was exactly what I needed on Monday morning. None of it was chance. You were behind all of it. Lord, today the small things are in Your hand, too. The cashier I happened to get. The page I happen to open my Bible to. The message I happened to get from my granddaughter. The pebble in my shoe that makes me slow down and notice something I would have missed. Each one is Yours. Walk me through this day with eyes to see Your hand in what seems random. Nothing wasted. Nothing accidental. You decide it all. And the trust that comes from that is steady and warm. Amen.
