Grandmother’s Prayer for December 17th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord, You said in Jeremiah 2:2 that You remember the kindness of my youth and the love of my early devotion. That verse is tender. You remember the fresh start, the eager mornings, the late-night reading, the small acts of obedience. I do not always remember well. My own memory is patchy. I remember a few moments, but much of the texture has faded. You remember all of it. That is gracious. It does not erase the harder seasons that came later. It honors the beginning that did happen. The young woman who first gave her heart to You is still part of who You see when You look at the woman in this chair. The continuity is in Your remembering, not in mine. Walk me through this ordinary day, warmed by the fact that You remember the early love. The love continues, in its older, quieter form. Let Your remembering bind the seasons together. Amen.
