Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for December 11th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You promised in 1 Thessalonians 5:24 that You will finish what You started. The calling came from You. The doing comes from You. The finishing is Yours.
This verse has been my anchor in hard seasons. The miscarriage year. The long depression after Mom died. The widowhood. In each one, I worried my faith would not hold to the end. But the verse keeps saying: “He who called You will do it.” The doing is Yours. The finishing is Yours.
Lord, today the question of finishing well feels closer than it did when I was young. There is more of my life behind me than ahead of me. But the verse still holds. Faithful is He. You will do it. The work will be completed not because I hold tight to You, but because You hold tight to me.
Walk me through this ordinary day in that confidence. The end of my story is not on my shoulders. You are faithful. You will finish what You began. You have not changed. I am safe in Your hands.
Amen.
