Grandmother’s Prayer for December 3rd

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says You look at Your people and see no stain. Not because we cleaned ourselves. Because You cleaned us, Jesus made the robe white. You see me as already whole, even while You are still at work in me.

Lord, my mirror tells me a different story. I see the conversation I should not have had on Sunday. The unkind thought I had about the new pastor. The grudge I have been holding against my cousin. Each one is a spot in my own eyes.

But the verse is what You see. And You see me clean in Christ. The cross took away every stain. Your Spirit is still at work on the rest. You call me what You are finishing.

Lord Jesus, help me believe that today. Not in a way that ignores the spots that still need Your work. But in a way that knows my standing with You is settled. The work continues. The standing is already finished.

Walk me through Wednesday, Father. Already clean in You. Still being made new in time. Both are true.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
